How to find Us

Our GPS location is: 34° 0'22.04"S, 20°49'39.68"E (Garmin)
                                        : -34.005810° S, 20.827692° E (Google Earth)

For those travelling on the N2 please note that our farm lies on a parallel route to the N2 that links Heidelberg with Swellendam, so although you are travelling towards the mountains, the actual distance is almost the same as travelling along the N2 – traditionally the N2 was known as the ‘coastal route’ and the R322/R324 as the ‘more scenic mountain route’.

See map below:

Travelling from Cape Town on the N2

Approximately 3 hours - 280 km

Pass Swellendam on the N2 for 11km.

Just beyond Buffelsjags BP Petrol station on your right (the one with the goats and bunnies etc) take the next turn off to your left that is sign posted Suurbraak R324.

You are now travelling alongside the base of the mountain the road twists through the little village of Suurbraak be on the look out for meandering donkeys and malingering chickens.

Carry on along this tar road for 20kms. Ignore the turn off that says Barrydale over Tradow pass and keep going straight until the road turns into gravel.

You will start seeing our wooden signs that say Honeywood and have a yellow reflective arrow. There are also signs that read Grootvadersbosch Nature Reserve. Follow the signs. The road eventually rises to a confusing intersection. Do not turn right or left carry on 'straight'. The road dips and comes to a T-junction.

Take a left here and it's now that you have to wind down your window and take a deep breath of fresh air because you are almost there. Just ahead the road splits - you need to take the left fork. Carry on a bit and you will see our wooden sign at our entrance on the left.

Take the top drive way to the main house to collect your key and be shown to your cottage.

Travelling form George

Approximately 2 hours - 180km

From George pass Mossel Bay, Riversdale on the N2 till you reach the R322 just before Heidelberg and proceed straight along the main road past the church and over the railway line on the other side of the village. Honeywood is 21 kms from Heidelberg.

The road eventually becomes gravel. Continue for 2 kms until you see a right turn and a sign that says Honeywood Farm with a yellow reflective arrow shortly after - turn right here and follow the road up towards the mountain.

It’s now that you have to wind down your window and take a deep breath of fresh air because you are almost there.

Just ahead the road splits - you need to take the left fork. Carry on a bit and you will see our wooden sign at our entrance on the left.

Take the top drive way to the main house to collect your key and be shown to your cottage.

Travelling on R62 from Montague

Just before the hamlet of Barrydale on the R62 – travelling from the Cape Town direction – turn right down the Tradouw Pass.

This beautiful mountain pass twists through the mountains with the river far below and splendid fynbos on surrounding slopes. It is a beautifully tarred road, linking the R62 with the R322. It ends at a T-intersection. Turn left at the intersection and continue towards Heidelberg.

Once the tar road ends you will start seeing our wooden signs that say Honeywood with a yellow reflective arrow. There are also signs that read Grootvadersbosch Nature Reserve. Follow the signs. The road eventually rises to a confusing intersection. Do not turn right or left carry on 'straight'. The road dips and comes to another T-junction.

Turn left again and it’s now that you have to wind down your window and take a deep breath of fresh air because you are almost there. Just ahead the road splits - you need to take the left fork. Carry on a bit and you will see our wooden sign at our entrance on the left.

Take the top drive way to the main house to collect your key and be shown to your cottage.
